Mission & Vision

The compass guiding every program, investment, and partnership decision Askêsis makes.

Be Part of the Change

Welcome to Our Mission and Purpose

To expand access to education, strengthen community resilience, and prepare the next generation of Caribbean leaders through mentorship, scholarships, civic training, and innovative partnerships.
  • MISSION

What We Do

To invest in people, ideas, and institutions that expand leadership capacity, cultural confidence, and public-service excellence for Haiti and the broader Caribbean community.

Through mentorship, scholarships, civic training, health outreach, community grants, and innovative partnerships, we turn shared heritage into collective impact across the Caribbean and diaspora. “The Caribbean rises when we invest in Caribbean people building Caribbean futures.”

  • VISION

Where We're Headed

To become a leading Haitian-rooted leadership institution in the Caribbean basin and diaspora — a credible platform that develops principled leaders, expands educational and civic opportunity, and ultimately anchors a world-class Askêsis Leadership Academy™.

A Caribbean region where every young leader has the opportunity, mentorship, and institutional support to rise — and where the institutions that support them are built to last acrossgenerations.

  • STRATEGIC THESIS

How We Create Change

Askêsis will create outsized long-term influence by combining near-term program delivery with disciplined institution-building. It will earn trust through visible human impact, use trust to deepen fundraising capacity and partnership strength, and convert that capacity into permanent educational and leadership infrastructure.

This thesis rejects two common errors: believing a foundation becomes important merely by naming a bold ambition, and believing small programmatic wins alone will eventually add up to institutionhood without deliberate design.

[Near-Term]

Visible Human Impact

Scholarships awarded. Mentors matched. Fellows trained. Communities supported.

[MID-Term]

Institutional Credibility

Trust built. Partnerships deepened. Impact reported. Donors retained.

[LONG-Term]

Permanent Infrastructure

Academy launched. Endowment seeded. Institution that outlasts any cohort.
  • Five Core Commitments

What We Promise

Preserve a distinctly Haitian and Caribbean identity while engaging globally
Our cultural rootedness is not a constraint — it is our competitive advantage and moral anchor. Every program, partnership, and communication will honor this identity.

Organize programs as one coherent leadership ecosystem
Thirteen programs across four pillars are designed to reinforce one another. Donors and beneficiaries should always see how each piece fits the larger institutional logic.

Separate and protect every funding track
Operating funds, restricted program gifts, Academy capital, reserves, and endowment are kept distinct. Growth will not create financial fragility.

Match ambition with visible governance discipline and transparency
Candid Seal of Transparency verified. IRS filings maintained. COI policies enforced. Annual impact reports published. We earn trust through behavior, not assertion.

Treat the Askêsis Leadership Academy as a capstone to be earned
The Academy advances through legitimacy — not impatience. It emerges from evidence of real programs, real partners, and real governance. We will not build the building before we have built the institution.
