A Letter to the Class of 2006
To: Members of Askêsis, Saint-Louis de Gonzague Class of 2006
Date: 19 July, 2025
Dear Askêsis Class of 2006, Forty-five classmates have already completed the Alumni Promotion Survey, giving us a vivid picture of the class nearly 20 years after SLG. About 57% now live in the United States, 24% in Haiti, 16% in Canada, and the rest in France, the Dominican Republic, and Germany. Our careers span business, finance, arts, medicine, engineering, law, education, tech, and more—proof of the rich expertise within our Askêsis network. These insights power the Askêsis Foundation, our new 501(c)(3) created to turn reunion energy into lasting scholarships and leadership programs. If you haven’t taken the survey yet, please do so soon; it takes ten minutes, is strictly confidential, and is visible only to the Executive Board and Communications Team. If you have already responded, thank you; please forward the link to any classmates who may not have seen it. The survey link is attached, and for any questions or concerns you can reach us at support@askesisfoundation.org. Let’s reach 100 responses and make sure every voice shapes our plans and legacy. With gratitude and anticipation, Daniel F. Verna President, Askêsis Foundation Saint-Louis de Gonzague, Class of 2006
What the Numbers Tell Us
Forty-five responses. Six countries. Twenty years of paths that diverged from a single starting point. 57% now live in the United States 24% remained in Haiti 16% made Canada home 3% scattered across France, Dominican Republic, Germany Not because anyone wanted to leave. Because opportunity required it. These numbers aren’t just data. They’re a map of what was possible and what was missing. Every percentage point represents someone who had to choose between home and future. The survey tells us where the barriers were. Who helped us past them. What we needed that didn’t exist. What we can build now for those coming after.
